Anyway, we have to go through it every 6 years. We did this 6 years ago and got a 6 year clear- which means that very important people read our 50+ page report that said- hey, we're cool; and agreed with us. Since then, we've been keeping up our good work and had to write another 50+ page report saying, YES, we're still as cool as we think we are. ( I take that back, the report is 130+). They, the state, has changed the requirements for a 6 year clear. BTW, a 6 year clear means they leave you alone during that time. If you don't get that, they come visit you either every 1,2,3, depending on your clear. There is no longer a 6 year clear. There is a 6 year with 3 year informal review. Because, according to the woman in charge who was at my school yesterday, "Schools want us to come back!" And she was serious! Really- what moron principal in Utah said- hey- come back in 3 years so we can do this all over again!?
Sidetracked- sorry. Here's the point. We passed with highest marks. Their biggest recommendation was- Add another DRSL (desired result for student learning- don't ask.) So now we can breathe easy and tell them again in 3 years, informally, of course, how cool we are. Yep- this is how we spend money in Utah. :) We can't pay our teachers or afford new text books but we can spend literally millions of dollars for 5 individuals to go into schools for 2 days and tell them they teach well according to data. *sigh*
I'll end with a positive note- since we passed, our principal let us wear jeans today! So here I sit at my desk, earning my hefty pay, wearing my jeans. :)
