The correct way to weigh yourself...

So what is this? Girls' Night Out?

That was our waiter's question this evening as I celebrated my friend's birthday tonight with 6 of the girls. Kris wanted to FINALLY make my blog so this is dedicated to her. If Sherrie would post the picture we took, I'd steal it and add it here. lol But back to Kris' birthday- HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my friend! Kris lives down the street from me. And so does our friend, Kristen. We affectionately call them the Kris's. Its easier to say and was started by Nicole. (there... I think you've all been mentioned at this point). I've known Kris for a couple years now and we became friends when we both started attending our weird ward. :) I say that with all the love I can muster for it. Then she bought a house by me (and thank goodness... I really thought I was going to have to leave mine to her in my will or something) and she's been awesome. She's such a wonderful friendly person who is easy going and understanding. She's helped me get places when I didn't have a car and offers to play tennis with me- even though I'm only on the D list. haha! Hope you had a great day!

Indiana Jones... I am NOT!

No- I'm not an archealogist. However, I felt like one today as I was digging up the remainder of my yard so I could plant more garden next year. You people think I'm exaggerating or kidding when I tell you I've dug up 2x4's and insulation. Well, this time I got proof.

Yep- all dug out of my backyard... coffee cups, seed bags, grocery sacks...

And THIS lovely piece of cement. NOT a rock- actual piece of cement.

The little thing to the left is some sort of broken off bolt with a nut around it.

Blog Tag... from Beej

The idea is to take 10 photos around your house without straightening up or anything. Then post them. Why? Because you can and really, who wants to make dinner without completing a post for the day? :) Anyway, this is what I came up with! I combined my blog tag with my sister's mosaic idea. They're kinda fun!
So from top to bottom, left to right... my fridge, my windchimes, inside my zucchini alien, one of my plastic daisies from Harmon's, my marigolds, my lovely pedicure, my latest harvest and dirty dishes, my unmade bed, my DI pile and my empty, soon-to-be-painted guest room. Tagging Sherrie, Holly (should she have time) and Jenn (is yours UP YET?)

Regional Conference

We had a treat today at my stake. It was regional conference and while we were watching via satellite instead of being there, it was still delightful to have the prophet presiding at the meeting! Yep! Pres. Monson was there and spoke for about 45 minutes. I just wanted to share a quick story he told us. NOT so that it can become some LDS folklore but just because it was cute.
I guess he was conducting conference one time and Pres. Hinckley leaned over and said "Tom, if I doze off, will you nudge me please?" Pres. Monson said yes. Well then I guess Pres. Faust leaned over and said, "Tom, will you nudge me too, if I doze off?" haha, so he replied yes, of course.
There came a point in conference where BOTH of them were dozing. Pres. Monson said he wasn't quite sure what to do so he gently tapped Pres. Hinckley's arm and pointed to Pres. Faust. So Pres. Hinckley gave Pres. Faust a good old "nudge" in the ribs! lol "JIM- you're dozing!" lol so funny! What a time they must have had!

Things that make me go "hmmm"

1. As I'm listening to Helaman chapters 12/13, it talks about the riches of the earth being cursed at times because of the wickedness of the people...how the Lord would smite people down for trying to get to them... So are the myths and tales made into movies like Indiana Jones really that far fetched? Myths are usually based on some form of truth. hmmm
2. Does my bishopric really think they can line us all up successfully? They're going to try. hmmm
3. How does mom's mixer keep going like it does? I truly whipped a few things this week and man, that thing works like a champ. Kitchenaid should be taking lessons from Blakeley or whatever its called. hmmm
4. What else can I do with zucchini? hmmm
5. Will my tomatoes EVER ripen up? hmmm
6. When will my 9th graders start wearing UNITS to school? They're already in skinny jeans, colored beads and vans. hmmm
7. Can my 9th graders ever truly appreciate bands like Depeche Mode, OMD and the Cure along with movies like Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful? I doubt it. hmmm
8. WHY is visiting teaching so hard sometimes? hmmm
9. Will the tennis world ever be rid of Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray? hmmm
10. How DOES my house have so many bugs in it right now? hmmm

Its taken on a life of its own!

As you know, I've been patting myself on my back about my vast acreage of vegetables that I planted this summer. I've enjoyed a cucumber every week, several zucchini and yellow tomatoes every day and finally some beef steak tomatoes today. I love it! However, the zucchini plant has taken over just about everything! It totally overshadows the cucumber- I'm really not sure how the little cukes keep producing. The yellow tomato has had to be redirected to grow to the LEFT and the red tomato to grow to the RIGHT. lol My gerber daisies that I planted have died- lack of sunlight as they are under the zucchini plant....Honestly- was it the MiracleGrow? The clay soil? or the compost? Because its obviously working! Take a look!
