Sorry, Matt...too many awful teachers out there not simply teaching "for the love" and not all teachers are underpaid. Many are getting paychecks, tenure and perks they haven't earned, thank you unions. Sad but true.
I'm not sure I know anyone who thinks they are paid what they are worth, teacher or not.
Public education is broken, standardized testing is flawed and NCLB is a nightmare - all this we can agree with.
(Whew! Matt had a busy week, what with calling for a 50% tax rate and all...)
And as I've always said, if ALL my kids' teachers had been as dedicated as my sister and brother - (and apparently EVERY single teacher Mr. Damon has EVER encountered) - I wouldn't have to homeschool. :)
Oh! Have I dropped the slightest social briquette?
Actually, it's more truthful to say, I may not have considered hsing at the time IF I had had better teacher experiences for my children.
But simple teacher dedication does not a great education make. Education has been hijacked and good teachers are a casualty. The progressive agenda aggresively taught in schools is now why I keep hsing. A agenda, coincidentally, that I'm sure Mr. Damon doesn't have much argument with.
And as you said at my blog, perhaps I should just write my own post. Sorry! Delete me away if you'd like - I won't mind. I'm finished, lol. :)
Ah, funny...the code word is "elatedly" which is how I'm sure you could push "delete", lol.
