A couple friends and I went to an exhibit Friday night downtown. My friend, Kris, knows someone who knows someone who knows.... you know how it goes. Anyway, this photographer, Justin Grant, has been working with a company called
Quiet Way. They are working with the people of Kenya to build dams and better their way of life. Justin storied what he saw over there in photographs. This is the exhibit we went to see. It was beautiful. The
online site should be up Monday so you can go view the artwork. Eric Dowdle, local folkart painter, was also part of the group that has been working with Quiet Way. Some of his work was also in the exhibit. If you go to the site on Monday and get a chance to look through the work, my favorite picture of Justin's was called "The Breeze."
By the way, all the proceeds from the exhibit and sales of artwork go to Quiet Way's Give a Dam project. They are constructing several dams in Kenya to help with the unrelenting droughts. Pretty clever name, I thought :0)
